SOS Children has developed an "SOS Playbus" based in Baku. It is a mobile nursery school that stops at public parks, hospitals, orphanages and tower blocks and gives children the opportunity to play. Activities include acting, dancing, dressing up, face painting and various craft activities with the aim of helping children to have more self-confidence. The Playbus team also shows parents and teachers new ways to help the children and encourages them to develop their own new ideas.
Playbus team started working in 2005 with the children in the SOS Children Village Baku. Then they extended their work into the SOS Nursery School and a state-run nursery school in Baku. Within nine months the Playbus had run 125 events for over 4,600 children and 470 adults and was working with other NGOs to support the work.
