Notes

This present image is intended to replace Andrew_Jackson_brave_boy_1780a.jpg, which was taken from a low-quality 640*499 pixels, 65048 bytes JPEG preview-image via http://hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp/cph.3a52022 .

This present image was taken from the non-lossy 1536*1198 pixels TIFF image available via the aforementioned URL. It was losslessly converted to the PNG format. The decision was made to keep the image in its original pixel-identical form (as opposed to performing contrast, brightening, or other manipulations, as with the Wikipedia image it is intended to replace), due to details in the image already being quite clear, and due to its unaltered form being closer in fidelity to the medium from which the photograph was taken.
