Mixed work. U.S. Government patent in public domain was combined with my own drawings and comment that are released to the public domain. The schematic drawing derives from the lines in photographs of Otto Lilienthal and of a sketch made of his triangular control frame that doubled in the TCF's apex as an upper kingpost. Later he went to two kinposts and sometimes no upper kingpost. His patent describes how the pilot would grab the "bar" in front of him
