Description

A piece of sulfur is burning (daytime / nighttime comparison). See separate pictures (version links below) for details. The depicted piece of sulfur is a residue of the Claus process.

Deutsch: Schwefel schmilzt bei Verbrennung zu einer blutroten Flüssigkeit (oben). Die dabei entstehende blaue Flamme (unten) wird idealerweise in der Dunkelheit beobachtet. Das abgebildete Schwefelstück ist ein Überrest aus dem Claus-Prozess.
English: When burned, sulfur melts to a blood-red liquid and emits a blue flame which is best observed in the dark.
Español: Fotografía de azufre fundido (foto superior) y de azufre ardiendo (foto inferior).
Nederlands: Een stukje zwavel smelt tot een bloedrode vloeistof wanneer het aangestoken wordt. De blauwe zwavelvlam kan het best in het donker geobserveerd worden. Het getoonde stuk zwafel is een residu van het Claus process.
