Update from December 2007

Dear Sponsors and Friends,

Christmas and New Year season has been approaching, you have just received the mid year report in July 2007. This Christmas, for the second report, now please let us to present you our brief report to what was going on during the second half of year 2007.

Totally children are 105; 44 boys, 44 girls and 17 young boys at youth house, one baby boy and one baby girl were welcome to be with us, both of them become the dearest for whole family. We continuously give extra tutorial classes, as well as strongly support our children having a part in village activities and all seasonal festival days with our own tradition.

This time we would like to present you 2 photos, one is from a group of dentist helped doing tooth extraction, orthodontic and other treatment for children, mothers, staff and our neighbors. It was a good chance to build up friendships each other.

The other one is from an impress day in July, children and mothers enjoyed their outing at Safari World, Thailand’s Most Popular Animal and Leisure Park. This activity was one of the local fundraising campaigns with kind support by Dumex (Thailand) Co Ltd., corporate SOS Foundation of Thailand to support children with knowledge and experience outside the classroom that will be more beneficial for our children. In the early morning, two big buses picked up children and mothers. When children arrived, there are a lot of interesting activities to participate with. The most exciting one was “Safari Park” that children met the ultimate safari experience features hundreds of animals from all over the world. They rode on Safari’s luxury coaches into the park included the highlight was wild life feeding pit stop. Next, children got real jungle experience with “Jungle Walk” in tropical forest. They saw a lot of wild birds during jungle explore as well as a little adventure by crossing the rope bridge also. Children enjoyed lunch buffet serving with ice cream and snack in jungle and safari atmosphere. End of wonderful day with “Animal Show”, it was exciting for children included dolphin, bird, monkey and lion sea’s talent performance. Besides children had fun with the show, they also gained knowledge about a lot of wild life animals from real experience and explanation from an expert guide during whole trip. They returned to village with unforgotten experience from exploring wide life world and acquire such as beautiful memory.

Update from SOS Children's Village Nongkhai, December 2007

Dear Sponsors and Friends,

Christmas and New Year season has been approaching, you have just received the mid year report in July 2007. This Christmas, for the second report, now please let us to present you our brief report to what was going on during the second half of year 2007.

Currently, total number of children are 117; 39 boys, 58 girls at the village and 20 young boys at youth house.

For education, our children is currently studying in different level as respective number as following; 16 in Kindergarten, 31 in Primary education, 34 in Secondary education, 17 in Vocational education, 15 in University level and other 4 small children are under the care of their mothers at homes. We are happy that their learning average result is improving. Moreover, we give support and promote in an extra tutorial class for children such as Arts, dancing art, native musical instruments, sports etc. Children take an interest and enjoying in the classes. In October, we were congratulation to “Paeng”, she graduated in The Faculty of Business Administration in Marketing. We accomplish to our successful in children’s education.

We held so many various activities during school vocation and public holidays like The National Mother’s Day, Loy Kratong Day, Sport Day etc. We would like to instill good manner in our children like self-confidence, dare to socialise and adjust themselves with the others. Hence, mothers, children including aunts are doing together in every activity.

In September 2007, Local fundraising projects of Dumex Thailand “Supporting Lives by Dumex” are the programs not only fund support but also knowledge and social activities. SOS families at SOS Children’s Village Nongkhai had a chance to welcome a nutritionist team from Dumex Thailand for cooking class. Particularly, it is very important to our children to grow up healthy definitely with nutrient menu, SOS mothers and children enjoyed and got a lot of nutrient knowledge. Furthermore, Dumex Thailand held activities doing with children. Everyone looked very happy, along with improving new acquisition of knowledge.
