At the children's national football competition, all the spectators paid special attention to the football player wearing football shirt no. 9 from the Ho Chi Minh team, the forward Loi who played very well. Loi scored seven goals which helped the team gain a bronze medal. No one believed that he was from SOS Children's Village Go Vap near Ho Chi Minh City.
In November 2000, being referred by the Women Union Branch of Thanh Dien, Chau Thanh, Tay Ninh province, Loi and his brother Sang were received into the village in the house named Lien Hoa.
Loi was well behaved from the beginning and was interested in going to school. He integrated well in the new community. Whenever he was free, he always helped his SOS mother in doing small things in the family or enjoyed being with his brothers and sisters. Besides taking part in all activities in the village, Loi is also interested in playing football. His talent was discovered in a district school competition in the year 2002. Since then he has been actively participating in all the football matches held in the district. Together with the team, Loi has obtained a gold medal for the Go Vap district in the municipal football competition. Another turning point came when Loi was invited to play for the football team of the city and in the competition at Quan Khu 7 stadium; he became a bright football player when he scored up to seven goals.
Thanks to the professional training course, Loi has learnt the nuances of the game. He also practices a lot of physical exercises and as a result Loi has become more lively, active and skillful in moving and attacking during the match. Earlier Loi did not pay much attention to his studies but football is a big motivation for him to study better. Now he also performs well in his studies.
In 2004, Loi obtained a silver medal for Ho Chi Minh at the children's national football competition organized in Hue. Since then Loi's achievements are always recognized by an Honourable Certificate from the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. Loi looks quite thin with 46 kg weight but he moves very quickly and actively in every match. His ideal football players are Van Quyen and David Beckam but in every match he likes to wear football shirt no. 9. Like other football fans, Loi collects many photos of different football players or football teams and these can be found everywhere on his study table or in his closet. He doesn't miss any football match on TV even if it is late at night.
Now many people in the city know the story of Loi. When the social delegation of Sport and Sai Gon Liberation newspaper came to hand in the costumes for the team U14 of Go Vap village, everybody was happy to know that Loi is a famous football player of the municipal football team.
"I want to become a professional football player", is Loi's reply when asked about his dreams.
