SOS Children’s Village Itahari

Nearly 50,000 people have fled their homes after a dam collapsed in south-eastern Nepal causing widespread flooding in the area. Many are either living on road sides or in temporary shelters provided by authorities.

SOS Children’s Village Itahari, which remains unaffected by the floods, has set up a small medical unit in a temporary shelter that is currently housing 2,000 families who urgently require basic assistance. Children and their families are being provided basic food supplies, water and medicine.

So far, SOS Children has committed $50,000 to the emergency relief effort.

At present there are eight SOS Children's Villages in Nepal, six SOS Youth Homes, eight Secondary Schools, three SOS Vocational Training Centres, seven SOS Social Centres, and one SOS Medical Centre.
