The Magic Lantern of Kimbustan, by Julian Lewis

A new, exciting children's novel about magic and adventrure went on sale to support SOS Children on 1 June. The Magic Lantern of Kimbustan is Julian Lewis' first novel and looks set to be a big hit this summer.

Booksellers WHSmith, Waterstones and Amazon have all snapped up the book, royalties from which will be donated to SOS Children to help its work with orphaned children around the world.

The story begins over a century ago in Kimbustan, an imaginary part of India, before switching back to present-day Scotland. There is more to the inclusion of India in the story than you may have guessed, however, as Julian has been sponsoring a child in the country for over 25 years.

Julian spoke about the project: "As a new author, I am delighted that my first book has been such a success - and I'm even happier that my royalties are going to SOS Children. SOS does a simply wonderful job in caring for lost, abandoned and needy children in India and elsewhere."

Reviews on The Magic Lantern have been very promosing, and SOS Children wishes Julian the best of luck.
