Stars turn out for Classic Response 2006

Saturday night’s Classic Response concert at the Royal Albert Hall proved to be yet another success for SOS Children’s Villages, thanks to the support of Aled Jones, Myleene Klass, G4, Amy Nuttall and a host of other classical stars.
Thousands of guests were delighted by the evening’s entertainment at the spectacle, which saw some of the country’s top classical stars performing for the benefit of Africa’s AIDS orphans. All profits from the concert will go to support SOS Children’s work with children and their families affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa.
The concert was kicked off in style by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Owain Arwel Hughes and followed in quick succession by stunning performances from The Choirboys, Nicky Spence, Emma Johnson, Myleene Klass, girls’ choir Cantamus, Becky Jane Taylor, Amy Nuttall, Julian Lloyd Weber and Aled Jones, pianist Harry Harris, Alex Prior, SOS Ambassadors Operababes, Amici Forever, G4 and brought to a close by Joseph McManners.
Footage of G4’s recent trip to SOS Children’s HIV/AIDS programmes and villages in Ghana highlighted the continuing need for support in Africa and a speech by Nocky Dlamini, a former SOS child who’s now studying medicine at Southampton University, showed just what a difference it can make.
