‘6 Villages for 2006’ campaign

23/08/2006

Italy was crowned World Cup champion but the real winner was SOS Children. As a result of the funds raised we will be able to support 800 orphaned and abandoned children in new family homes in six new SOS Children’s Villages.

In addition, we will be able to provide support to over 5,000 children and 1,000 families through additional community outreach programmes.

Twin Towers at Wembley

A monoprint of Wembley’s famous Twin Towers was the highlight of a football inspired art exhibition held at Ninetythree Gallery in London to support the ‘6 Villages for 2006’ campaign. The online prediction game, SOS Football, raised more vital funds for the campaign by testing fans' knowledge of the teams.

A big thank you to everyone involved in the campaign and for making it such a huge success.

Kettlefields' School Malawi Cake Stall

Our WOW Schools’ Fundraising Pack contains ideas for events you can hold during WOW week. What about an art exhibition celebrating WOW (with mums and dads encouraged to buy their child’s artwork!), or cake stalls selling world food, or virtual challenges? You can see our schools pages for more information, or if you would like a pack please email schools@worldorphanweek.com.

Companies

Get your colleagues to donate an hour's pay during WOW - with the director leading the way of course! You can download our simple form here and circulate it amongst your colleagues - easy to do with email. You'll see how quickly the money starts coming in.

Hold an event at your office for WOW. There are lots of great ideas such as a family fun day with bouncy castles, competitions and entertainment. Another idea is a dress-down day - everyone pays to wear casual clothes for the day. To make it more interesting you could give it a theme - why not to ask everyone to wear green for WOW?

For more details please email companies@worldorphanweek.com.
